How far is the Hale Koa from the Honolulu International Airport and how do I get to the hotel from there? Is there a shuttle?
The Hale Koa Hotel is located approximately 10 miles from the Honolulu International Airport. The Hale Koa does not offer shuttle service from the airport to the hotel. To travel from the airport to the Hale Koa, you may take a taxi (the trip is approximately $35- $45) or catch an airport shuttle (approx. $10 per person). Depending on traffic, it's a 20-35 minute drive. Any national car agency can arrange for airport pick-up of a rental car or you may contact the Dollar Rent-A-Car desk in our lobby at 808-955-0555 ext. 419. If you are driving from the airport to the Hale Koa Hotel, a map is provided for your convenience.

How much does it cost to stay at the Hale Koa Hotel?
Rates range from $83 - $268 per night (current rates effective until September 30, 2008), single/double occupancy, based on rank and room category (view from the lanai).

How far in advance are reservations accepted?
The Hale Koa accepts reservations up to 365 days in advance by calling 1-800-367-6027 (CONUS) or
955-0555 (Locally).

When is the best of time of year to secure a room reservation at the Hale Koa?
September through mid-December.... Please request your preferred dates at least 6 months in advance for best availability.

What is the difference between the various room categories?
All of our guest rooms are generally the same size and offer the same amenities. Room categories differ primarily by the view from the room's lanai. Rooms are furnished with; one king, two queen or two double beds. Bed configuration cannot be guaranteed and should be requested when making your reservations. Standard rooms are on the lowest floors and have little or no view. Ocean Front rooms are in the front of the building facing the ocean. Deluxe Ocean Front are corner rooms in the front of the building facing the ocean, with one King-size bed.

What amenities does a Hale Koa guest room offer?
Hale Koa guest rooms are all fully air-conditioned and equipped with alarm clock/radio, color TV, telephone answering system, iron/board, hair dryer and lanai (however, a few standard rooms do not have a lanai). Each room also has a refreshment cabinet -- suitable for cooling beverages but not storing perishables. High speed internet access is also available through a cable Ethernet connection for your laptop.

The cost for this service is $9.95 for a 24 hour period.

We also provide complimentary mini-size shampoo/conditioner, hand & body lotion, facial and bath soaps and shower cap for your convenience.

How many people can stay in a room? Can you make special accommodation requests?
Most of our guestrooms have two doubles or two queen beds depending on which is available on the day of arrival, with a maximum of 4 persons sharing the two beds. Roll-aways and cots are not permitted.

(Room prices are based on single or double occupancy. Children under 12 are free in parents' room. Additional persons over two and up to four need to pay additional charges. Please see our hotel rates page).

While we attempt to accommodate everyone’s’ special requests, reservations are confirmed by room type and not by specific location. Special requests (e.g. tower preference, bed types, connecting or adjoining rooms,) are given every consideration possible; however, we cannot guarantee being able to fulfill these requests.

Can I have flowers or a gift basket sent to a room upon arrival?
Our Catering Specialists will be happy to help you make arrangements to send a fruit basket or champagne/wine to a guest's room. Although they do not have e-mail, please call them directly at
(808) 955-9609.

There is also a florist shop on property that can create an arrangement for you and have it delivered to a guest room. Please call Hale Koa Flowers at (808) 944-0044 or Fax (808) 944-0045 Monday - Friday from 8:00 a.m.-6:00 p.m. and 9:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. on weekends. They will require the guest's first and last name, and expected arrival date. The cost varies, depending on your arrangement and there is an additional delivery charge.

Is the Hale Koa Hotel wheelchair accessible?
The Hale Koa Hotel is completely wheelchair accessible. If you need a guestroom that can accommodate a wheelchair, please let us know when making your reservation.

What Time is Check in/out?
Check-in is at 3 p.m. If you arrive earlier and a room is available, we will check you in early. If a room isn't available, there is an Aloha Suite where you may freshen up. Our Bell Desk will be happy to store your luggage until you check in.

Check out is at noon. The Bell Desk will also hold your luggage after check-out if you have some time before leaving for the airport.

What if a room at the Hale Koa Hotel is not available when I want to visit Hawaii?
Ask about our Referral Hotel Program. We have agreements with some of our neighboring hotels to provide rooms for guests we are not able to accommodate. As a referred guest, you are still welcome to come and enjoy our grounds, pool, Post Exchange, dinner shows, restaurants and lounges (proof of Hale Koa eligibility required). Daily use fee for THE POiNT Health Club is $10 with military I.D., or $12 for all others.

Is parking available for hotel guests?
The Hale Koa offers ample parking for our hotel guest. The Hale Koa has a parking garage that is located just across the street from the hotel. As well as additional parking across the street from the Army Museum in the Saratoga Lot. Parking is $6 per day for hotel guests. The hotel also offers a complimentary shuttle "The DeRussy Caboosie" which shuttles guest to/from the parking garage and Saratoga Lot to/from the hotel lobbies.

Does the hotel offer high speed internet access? What about a business center?
The Hale Koa does offer high speed internet access in the guest rooms through a cable ethernet line that connects directly to your laptop. This service is $9.95 for a 24 hour period. Once you have authenticated service in your room WiFi is also available in the main lobby and main pool areas.
We also have a 24 hour business center on the lobby level of the hotel with high speed internet kiosks, full service computer use, copier, fax and printing service for nominal charges.

Does the hotel have a place to workout?
The POiNT is our state-of-the-art health club offering weight machines, cardiovascular equipment, massage therapy, personal trainers, and a vigorous class schedule which encompasses tennis, swimming, yoga, walking, running and water aerobics. The fitness center is free of charge to hotel guests. Nominal fees apply for POiNT classes (Contact the POiNT at 808-955-9155 for prices and details).

Does the Hale Koa offer children’s activities? Do you have babysitting services?
We do not offer babysitting services. However, there’s always something for children to do at the Hale Koa! We offer swim lessons, tennis lessons, our popular Magic in Paradise Show, a beautiful one-third mile white sand beach, kiddies pool, children’s menus in our restaurants and board games (available for check-out) at the fitness center.

Does the hotel offer laundry service or dry cleaning?
The Hale Koa offers self-service laundry facilities for its guests. The laundry rooms are located on every floor in the Maile Tower. In the Ilima Tower, laundry rooms begin on the 4th floor. Dry-cleaning is also available to hotel guests. We have provided bags and cleaning slips in guests’ rooms. You will need to drop off your dry-cleaning at the Bell Desk by 9 a.m. your items will be cleaned and will return on the same day between 4-5 p.m.

How do I purchase tickets to the Dinner shows or Special Hotel Events?
The Hale Koa has an Activities Desk located in the main lobby of the hotel that will be happy to assist you. The Activities Desk handles ticket sales for The Hale Koa Luau and dinner shows. In addition they also take Hale Koa Room Reservations and sell tickets to all Hotel Special Events. You can contact them directly at (808) 955-0555 ext. 546. The Activities Desk is open Monday - Friday from 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. Hawaii Standard Time (HST) and 8:30 a.m. - 4 p.m. on weekends and Federal holidays.

How can I arrange a tour to a local attraction or a neighbor island?
The Hale Koa lobby houses Pleasant Hawaiian Holidays, a local tour desk which can arrange for you to visit the USS Arizona Memorial, USS Missouri, other Oahu attractions, or a neighbor island. You may arrange daytrips or overnighters in advance by calling 808-955-0555 ext. 410.

Does the Hale Koa allow pets?
I'm sorry but pets are not allowed at the Hale Koa Hotel. You may wish to contact the Hawaiian Humane Society regarding a kennel that is right for you. More information may be found at their website www.hawaiianhumane.org. There is also the MWR Pet Kennel located in Halawa. You can reach them at (808) 368-3456 for reservations or access www.mwrarmyhawaii.com under the "Leisure Activities" link.

What is the weather like there, and what type of clothing should I bring?
The weather is usually moderate year-round, typically ranging from the low 70s to upper 80s. Some evenings may be cool and breezy, so you may want to bring a sweater or windbreaker. Summer-type clothing, such as shorts, t-shirts, casual pants and dresses are appropriate almost everywhere in Hawaii. A cap or hat is also a good idea to protect your face from the sun.
